Move that Garage!

Our weekend continued to be very busy yet very productive! On Saturday our little old garage made a move to the very back of our property. Such a process, but it made it still in one piece!

The kids took advantage of the hot weather and spent the entire day in the pool! We all got some sun:) What a welcome to summer! Later in the day we attended my cousin's graduation party, then returned home to chill on the couch!

Sunday was filled with more busy activity! Everyone worked outside in the morning trying to get more of our "stuff" moved that was previously in the garage. Then I headed to my parents to take the kids over to stay the night. They had a grand time with the new baby kitties (which they named Jumpy and Ryan:) and swimming in Grandma's pool! I headed back home to get ready for our bean bag tourney, which was a great time (minus the bugs!!).

This morning we headed back to mom and dad's to get the kids. Randy headed for our house with Dad's dump truck to do some more work in our yard while mom, the kids and I headed to Lawler for the annual Memorial Day Celebration. This is the 2nd year that they have held the celebration in the new Memorial in town. It was very nice, and they had a great turnout!!! What a great way to remember our loved ones!

We headed home after a yummy lunch with my parents and brother and his wife. We stayed inside and some of us (including mom) took a much needed nap... actually Nolan is STILL sleeping!!! Now for a quick supper and it's off to the park to start our Volleyball season!!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game....

We packed up the car yesterday and took our family vaca a little early, thanks to the Yankees playing the Twins in MSP!! The trip did not start out so good at all... by the time we hit Kendallville, Nolan was nauseaous, and by the time we reached Chatfield, he vomited... profusley, and continued to do so on and off the entire way to the hotel... in heavy traffic! Poor kid!! We were soooo glad to finally reach our destination!!

The game was hot, but a great experience for the kids. As predicted, the Twins won, but it was still fun nevertheless. We got to take a bicycle taxi back to the hotel. Sure beat walking at the end of a long day!

This morning the kids and Randy slept in while I had some time to workout and do some research on motion sickness. After a quick, cold swim in the pool we were out and about for the day. Thank goodness for Dramamine in chewable form for Nolan!! We spent a good part of the day at Mall of America, riding the rides!! Or I should say Nolan did! Eryn was not so much into the rides but really liked the butterfly garden.

The trip home was much more pleasureable, with NO sickness at all! Both kids even took a short nap! Then it was home to unpack and get back to normal!!

We Struck Out!

Tonight was supposed to be the first night of Spillville Little League... well it still was, just that our little girl chose not to participate. We have been waiting for this day for about a month, and slowly trying to get Eryn comfortable with Little League. She's such a timid little girl, and so reluctant to try new things. So we tried the approach of not talking about it and just going. I got the kids laced up in socks and shoes (not such an easy task on such a hot and humid day) and said we were going to the park. I snuck Eryn's ball glove in the car this morning, so we were ready to go. As soon as we pulled into the park, Eryn made a comment that they were having Little League practice, and I asked her to join in on the fun. Well, that did NOT go over well. Needless to say, we tried. Now, on to other summer activities. I am looking into both kids taking swimming lessons this year, so we will focus on that, and maybe re-visit Little League next year!

"Pool Party"

We bought the kids a different pool this year and they were sooo excited to give it a try! We didn't have much time on Saturday so we figured Sunday would be a great day to break it in; the sun didn't warm up the water as much as we wanted it to but it didn't stop the kids from jumping in. Not too long after they jumped in, the Ott boys joined in on the fun! Soon there were four kids running around and jumping into the pool! Didn't matter anymore if the water was warm or not!! After a couple of hours, the kids were ready to come in (and so was I). The bugs are terrible and were raining on our parade! I am sure we will have many many more pool party days ahead!

Progress!

On Saturday morning the cement truck delivered the first of many loads of cement we will need for this project. The kids had a blast watching and "helping." Now for the old garage to be moved to make way for the new one!!

Nolan spent most of the day with Randy doing all sorts of odd jobs, but it included a 4 wheeler ride! Two baths later and no nap, he was ready for bed by 830.

Eryn ran some errands with me then we went to a bridal shower. She had a chance to go for a bike ride and both kids played with the neighbor kids in the late afternoon.

Garage Project Phase 2

It's been three months, but we are finally in phase 2 of the garage project. Today consisted of moving the swing set to what used to be the garden (no garden this year!). Then they prepared to move the existing small garage to the back of our property. It is definitely starting to look different!! Nolan got a ride on the skidloader, and he even got to drive. Made his day!

I caught this pic of the kids earlier today both busy on their computers!

A Nice, LOONNNGGGG weekend

Ok so the weekend didn't seem long, but I was off work from Thursday afternoon, so one would think that it was a long weekend. On Thursday afternoon Eryn had her spring program at school and did AWESOME! Thursday evening the kids and I headed to the Mennonites with mom and dad to get some flowers. Friday was a no work day (YEAH) but I ended up taking Nolan into the dr for his allergies. Fortunately, we were able to get some answers; Nolan is now on Flonase and has an appt to see the specialist for allergies in June.

I spent the rest of Friday bumming with a friend to Stewartville garage sales. Friday night I had appts for the kids to get their pics taken at Walmart, but they were running more than an hour behind, and I didn't think the kids would wait that long. Oh well, we'll wait until another day!

On Saturday Eryn and I headed to a baby shower in Cedar Rapids for Randy's cousins' wife. It was nice to see everyone, and we even did some shopping before heading home.

That brings us to today, MOther's Day. Our family enjoyed spending time with both of our wonderful mothers. We are so grateful to live close to each of them! They both do so much for us and we are truly grateful!

This morning we went to brunch with the Sableka's and after a short nap at home, we headed to my parents, and ended up helping them load cattle. When we got back home I whipped up a strawberry rhubarb pie (Randy's fav) with my little helper Nolan. It was delish!! Now time for some rest for yet another week! School starts again this week. Man, I sure didn't miss any of the homework and reading this past week. Back to reality, though!
