Kernels Game!

This weekend we took a little road trip to
Cedar Rapids to spend some time with friends.  Pedicures, shopping and a baseball game were on the agenda.  We accomplished it all, despite a little bit of rain. We even got to see some fireworks after the game last night!

Irish Fest 2013

This weekend Lawler held their inaugural Irish Fest.  It started on Friday night with a 5K.  The weather has been hot and muggy, ideal running conditions, right?  We all finished and did pretty well.

Saturday morning we were back in town for the parade.  This was the first parade for the kids this year and they were beyond excited!  My brother, niece and nephew also got to ride in the parade in the firetruck.  Mom and dad also enjoyed the parade (and the grandkids:)

After the parade we went and looked at some of the history of Lawler.  It was fun to go down memory lane!  We visited with my aunt and uncle at their house following the festivities.  The kids had a great time getting dirty in the sand and swimming with my cousin Luke.  Looking forward to Irish Fest 2014!

Dad's Day Craft

The kids and I made these bags for the dad's in our life:)  They each designed the tie (in first pic)
L to R (Derek, Nolan, Eryn) and packaged up some goodies for Dad and grandpas for today.  Love pinterest!  The kids also filled out some "all about mny dad" to give to him with some pretty interesting answers....

"Dad always tells me"=No (Nolan)
"Dad always tells me"= to behave (Eryn)
"Dad always tells me"= I love you (Derek)

Dad's day and new baby!!

Happy Father's day to all the dads out there!  It was a beautiful day and we didn't waste any time enjoying it!  The kids stayed at the Sabelka's last night and we picked them up this morning, and headed to the Carolan's for lunch.  Gene and Ella were there today, and later Chris, Lacy and baby Cara arrived.  She is a doll, isn't she??!!  She is only a few days old and we love her to pieces!  We enjoyed time outside and it was finally warm enough to get out the swim suits and get in the sprinkler!  We are having a supper of grilled burgers, sweet potato fries and melon before heading down to the park for Nolan's first t-ball of the season.  Love summer!!

VBS 2013

This week Eryn and Nolan attended Vacation Bible School at Calmar Lutheran Church.  The church does a fantastick job each year of putting this bible school together and the kids love it!  They were so tuckered out each night when they got home.  They learned alot!  Friday night they had a short program.  It was tough to get pictures but you can see the cowboy theme.  They did various craft activities, one of which was tie-dyeing their own bandana.

Summer has Arrived!

The calendar may not say it's officially summer, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that summer is here!  The kids got out of school yesterday at 1:00 and celebrated with some family and friends.  The sun was out, sunscreen was applied and the kids were playing nonstop until well after the sun went down.  It was great!  After a week of rain, clouds, more rain and some minor flooding, that warm sunshine was a welcome sight!

After another rainstorm last night, it was a beautiful morning.  I started it off with an 8 mile, peaceful run in the country.  I LOVE to start my weekends out this way!  When I got back home, everyone was up and at 'em.

Around lunch time my niece and nephew arrived and the kids played away.  After Derek's nap we got busy on the trails to the Decorah area to start our Driftless Safari Treasure Hunt.  We checked  off Phelp's Park and Dunning Springs from our list, and stopped for a sweet summer treat at the Whippy Dip.  Now we are making some supper and planning a movie for the evening.

Next week will start new summer routines, a little more relaxed, and I am certainly looking forward to that!
