It's all about Perspective!

This week I sure felt like I was tested to try and stay positive despite a few minor setbacks.  Over the weekend I started not feeling well and spent the first couple of days fighting the onset of a major cold.  After some chicken noodle soup (I know...in the middle of summer, right?) and rest I was starting to feel better.  Sure put a hamper on my running this week, but I am feeling better and that's what counts!

At the same time my phone decided to stop working and I had what you would call a marathon session calling and following up with US Cellular multiple times.  Long story short I was supposed to be with a loaner phone for a day and it ended up being more like 5 days.....Anyway...... Despite all that plus a broken prong on my wedding ring this week I kept telling myself that it could always be worse, right?  Right!! It's all in your perspective!

The kids finished up swimming lessons on Thursday and both of the older kids are now able to go off the high dive alone!  Yeah!  We now have a much calmer schedule to end out the summer.  It's hard to believe it will soon be August.  Man, time sure does fly!

I took Friday off to get some things done around the house and in the afternoon we headed south to spend some time with one of my best friends and her family.  We enjoyed some BBQ ribs, homemade mac and cheese, fresh green beans from our garden, and sweet corn. A. Great. Meal.  The kids enjoyed making smores and watching a movie to round out the night while we visited around the campfire.  Such a great evening!

On Saturday we hit the CR Farmer's Market, which is always fun to go to.  Lots of different vendors and great things for sale.  My brother in law was there with his Red Piglet merchandise, so of course I came home with a new shirt:).  The kids played in the pool before we headed home to get caught up on things at home.

Today we enjoyed some family time with Randy's mom's side at a family potluck to celebrate his grandpa's upcoming 89th birthday.  Great to see everyone and the new little ones of the family.  We also spent a little time in the garden and came back with cukes, green beans, broccoli, and zuchinni.  I spent some time this afternoon taking inventory of my canning supplies because it's looking like the garden is in full swing. Stay tuned for some recipes and hints for canning!  Have a great week everyone!
