"Mystery" Illness

Looks worse that it really was, but I convinced Nolan that he was in disguise:)
Nolan doesn't get sick very often at all, so when he came down with a high fever Tuesday morning, I knew something was up.  He was fine when he had Tylenol, being his usual self.  But, when the fever spiked, this kid was ill.  Repeat Wednesday, Thursday AND Friday.  I began to get a little concerned, and after a call to the ER for advice, I made him a dr. appt Friday.

To top it all off, we made a change in our medical providers too, so it was a first for seeing a new doctor.  Nolan was a little apprehensive, as was I.  After seeking advice and recommendations from others, we chose a new doctor, and we are happy with the changes.  Nolan was a brave little boy and tested for Strep and Influenza.  Thank goodness, it came back with a positive for strep and nothing more.  His strep symptoms and Eryn's are SO much different, and it's funny that Eryn didn't get it too.

After antibiotics, Nolan is back to himself, and this momma is happy about that!!  Now he can enjoy the rest of the weekend and Monday off from school!

Good Reports!

This week we had parent teacher conferences.  We are so blessed and proud that both kids are doing so well in school!  They couldn't do it without the dedication of their teachers!  SW has excellent staff, and we couldn't be happier!  It's so hard to believe that it's spring conference time already, and soon the kids will be on summer break.  Where does the time go??!!

Back to Normal

This week I finished up another training for work and was home just before the ice hit on Wednesday.  One more lengthly training and I will be done!  As hoped, the kids got out of school early that day and enjoyed making snow forts.  Eryn has been busy with Girl Scouts selling cookies, and is half way to her goal.

Yesterday we made a trip to my parent's to visit as they recently returned from Texas.  We celebrated Mom's birthday and Lacy's upcoming birthday with carrot cake, yum!  The kids had a  good time playing as always!

Today we are laying low and getting some projects done in the house.  I am SO looking foward to spring and NO snow!  I signed up for my first 5K of 2013 so that is another sure sign that spring is on it's way!  The kids have a shorter week this week with no school Friday and a couple of early outs.

Have a great week everyone!

....And We're Back!

Derek really liked the mini bowling game!

Teacup ride

Swimming "cool" as Derek calls it!

As promised, here are the pics from our recent trip to the Dells.  For whatever reason the blog is now working:)  We have had the pool pic on the computer since we got back, and Derek will comment on it several times a day.  "When can we go back to the swimming cool?"  He is talking a MILE a minute lately, and we can hardly understand him sometimes.  I LOVE two year olds!!

Where is Spring?

Well, since there is a delay in the Super Bowl, I have some time to update the blog!  Not a whole lot has been going on in the Sabelka household this week.  I was in Des Moines at training for work, so Randy was holding down the fort on his own, and did a fantastic job of it!  I was sure glad to get home on Friday after having to drive down in the ice, and the commute in the city traffic during the snowstorm on Wednesday.  Did I tell you that I am so ready for spring??

Once I was home on Friday we got Eryn's supply of Girl Scout Cookies for her first year of selling.  She's set a goal of 215 boxes, so we are in full selling mode!  The boys got a hair cut on Saturday and we stayed around home catching up on cleaning and laundry.  We got together with friends both nights this weekend so it was nice to catch up with everyone!

Now, back to another work week... hopefully the kids have a full week of school this week!

Oh, and before I forget.....Happy Belated birthday to my mom!
