A taste of summer...

Everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather today! By the time I picked up the kids tonight, they were already tired! We took a ride in the stroller (dusted it off from storage) and went around town a few times. It was so good to be out in the sunshine! I can get used to this! Then the kids played in the yard with the Ott kids until supper was ready. Both kids were desperately in need of baths tonight... they broke out the shorts AND the flip flops! Nolan took a nasty spill on the bike today and has his first case of scraped knees. Not the last I am sure! He didn't really want to take a bath and refused to put his knees in the water because they were stinging.... poor kid!! After a great supper of grilled chicken on the grill, these kids were ready for their daily dose of SCooby Doo and are now in bed.... now time to relax and do some homework! Randy started field work this week so I am back to being the "farmer's widow." Thank God it only happens twice a year!!

Girls' Trip!

On Friday afternoon, Lacy and I headed south to Des Moines. My cousin Quincy is getting married this summer, and my cousin Ann was hosting a shower for his fiancee Nicole. My sister in laws and I made the cookies for the shower, so we went down early to make sure they had them in time! (Make sure to check out our blog: www.threesistersbaking.blogspot.com for pics and more info!) Eryn tolerated the ride pretty well, but was very anxious to see her Great Aunt Leann!!!! We arrived in Des Monies around 8:00 on Friday. We went out for supper with Mark and Leann (thanks again!) and headed back to visit before getting some shut eye!

On Saturday morning we went to Cracker Barrel (YUM!) for breakfast before getting a little shopping done. Eryn was excited to find some baby Zhu Zhu pets (the new craze for the kindergarteners at SW:). Well, they were all sold out but she didn't walk away empty handed! She ended up buying a "pool" for her hamsters with her birthday money. She also picked out a swimsuit.... is this girl ready for summer or what???!!!! We are all looking forward to the warmer weather forecast for this week!!

In the afternoon it was off to Ankeny to Ann's for the shower. It was a very nice shower, and a good chance to catch up with my aunts and cousins! We will be seeing alot of each other this year between weddings and wedding receptions! I am looking forward to it, we always have a great time!!

We headed back home in the afternoon....seems like such a long drive! We stopped at Stacy's to pick up Nolan who spent the day with Jodi, Stacy and Landon. Randy was at class for work all day in Waterloo, so he didn't get home until 9:30. It was a long day! So today we are taking it easy, getting some things done around the house and catching up on laundry. It will be another busy (and fast) week! Not to mention Easter is only a week away!!!!

Eryn is 6 today!

My how time flies.... I remember when Eryn was born like it was yesterday. We waited soooooo long for her to finally arrive:) I can't believe how much she has grown. Today she was up early to open more presents! She got a new Hannah Montana comforter, movie and wall stickers for her room. She was soooo excited! She took cupcakes to school today for treats, and had a great time playing with all the neighborhood kids after school! To celebrate her birthday I thought it would be fun to look back on the past 6 years..... really I just LOVE looking back at the kids' baby pics!!!

Birthday parties galore!

This weekend was filled with birthday parties, all for little miss Eryn who turns 6 on Tuesday! yes, 6! I can't believe it! They really do grow up before our very eyes!

Friday afternoon I was busy baking up a storm. I made Eryn's chocolate bday cake with buttercream frosting. I tried one of those edible cake images (hannah montana) and it worked well! I also whipped up 4 dozen cupcakes and a pan of bars. Trying to get ahead for next week's order for Annies!

At 3:00 I picked up Eryn and five of her friends from school and we headed home for four hours of fun! The kids had a great time eating and playing various games! They were all tuckered out by 7:30!

On Saturday the kids and I headed to Stacy's to get our bake on and get the sugar cookies baked for our big order next week. In addition to about 100 sugar cookies we also baked up some bars and other cookies to store away in the freezer. It was a very productive day!

In the afternoon the kids and I headed home for some down time (and some naps!) and then Randy and I went out for a very nice supper at the White House!

Today we had Eryn's family birthday party at noon. It was a great day for a party! Eryn got a lot of nice gifts, and it was great to see everyone and catch up!

The end of a great birthday!

Supper is done and the kids are ready for bed. It's been a wonderful birthday! Yesterday mom and the kids made my ultimate fav bday cake (I ask for the same kind every year); German Chocolate cake with home-made coconut topping. It was delish!!

Before supper (we grilled for the first time this year) the kids got a chance to get the bikes out of the garage and hit the pavement. Eryn is still practicing to ride without the training wheels and she did pretty good! It won't take much time at all for her to be independent with that! Nolan was riding around on his bike like the daredevil he is.... he even went past the neighbors and just kept going down the street! We will have to keep an eye on him:)

A New Start

Ok, I found out this week that I really dislike technology! Last Wednesday my computer (laptop) was infected with a virus. No big deal, I thought and away it wen to the Geek Squad to be fixed. Well, low and behold, it took them a week and a half to fix it, and when I got home I was not able to connect to the internet. GRRR... so after one hour on the phone I was stil no further ahead, but really frustrated:)

Luckily my hubby can work wonders and was able to get it up and running on Saturday. It's sad how much I depend on technology, but it sure makes life easier!!!

So today I figured I better update the blog, since it had been a while (not to mention another crazy week!). Well... yet another suprise was in store for me. I am guessing that the old blog was infected with the virus cuz I can't sign into it! So here I am starting over on the blog, but not giving up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where to start... this week.... kind of a blur... went fast. Only four days of work (yeah!!!). The kids had a good week; Eryn did not have school on Friday due to Kindergarten round up so she and I went to Waterloo to pick up the computer and a few other things. We had lunch with my sister Cindy before heading back to Spillville. On Friday night I had a Pampered Chef party, which was a lot of fun. We were all up early on Saturday morning and the kids and I headed to my parents, where the kids stayed during the day, while I went with some friends for some much needed R and R. We went to La'James in CF for pedis, mud therapy, and massages.... so relaxed when we walked out of there! We did a little shopping before heading back home. I had intended on leaving the kids at mom and dads so Randy and I could go out for supper to celebrate my bday, but Eryn was not feeling the greatest when I arrived so the plans changed to pizza and movie night at the Sabelka household, which was what I think we all needed! We all feel asleep early (some of us (Nolan) very early) so we were all rested up this morning!! Randy made a great breakfast and we all hung around the house until it was time to take Eryn to Luther Pals in Decorah. She LOVES spending time with her Luther PALS and today was no different. With the amazing spring weather it was a perfect day for "Olympics Day." She got to run track, play kickball, volleyball, etc. She was tuckered out when we picked her up. By that time we were all in need of a little "pick me up" so we got ice cream... YUM!!! Now we are getting ready for supper and it will be time for me to pick up the books and get going on this week's homework.... never a good thing to start on a Sunday night, but it has to be done! This week will be another busy one! I will be sure to keep you all up to date on what is happening!!
